West Elm Midcentury Lamps

Currently drooling over these midcentury style lamps at West Elm. They're called Roar + Rabbit Ceramic Table Lamp, White, Tall. And currently on sale for 20% off. They would go great in our living room. Now just have to check that pesky budget...

Aqua and Bunnies

Antique stores can be hit or miss, so I was really excited when I found a lot of great stuff today! In retrospect, I can see now that I had a theme going (yay for everything aqua and bunnies). Might I add, as a bunny owner, Easter is THE BEST. My favorite thing (even though his ear paint is chipping a little) is definitely the cotton dispenser. SO CUTE. It's going to go great in our pink bathroom. But I was also pretty excited to find these aqua Pyrex bowls (from the Butterprint set) that match one that my granny gave me, and a few other things that caught my eye, including a bookshelf for $3 😎. Yep, it was definitely a productive visit.

Ok then, off to decorate!

Vintage Frigidaire Oven

Right before we moved into our new home, I saw this amazing aqua Frigidaire oven on Craigslist and had to check it out. When I got there, I realized I was buying it from a soon-to-be neighbor (small world...!) and it was original to her 1950s home. A few months later, when we made our first attempt to hook it up, we were greeted by a blood-curdling sound like a garbage disposal grinding a piece of metal and one of the burners literally needing to be put out with a fire extinguisher. 😧  The wires were really old and shorted out, which had caused the fire. So my husband and father-in-law rewired the entire stovetop. Completely gutted! Then we removed a hanging cabinet from the other side of the kitchen and that wood was used to create a frame for the oven. The finishing touch was to add a bit of metal trim around the counter to give it that vintage look. Finally, the moment of truth came...drum roll...and it worked great!

In fact, we ceremoniously broke it in that very night with some pizza rolls.

Retro Recipe Cards

I'm so proud of these recipe cards I designed! The illustrations were inspired by a 1950s children's cookbook that I have. Everything was hand drawn, then scanned in and assembled in the computer. These turned out so fun and perfectly retro.

I sell them on my Etsy shop, if you know someone who would love these, even if that someone is you ;) Just click here!
