Pretty in Pink Hair

A friend of mine recently dyed my hair pink and I think she did a fantastic job because with all the different streaks of color in it, there's such a nice texture. It's basically what pink hair would look like if it was natural (I wish!). Here are a few shots right after she finished and also paired with the dress I sewed in my last post.

Easy Vintage Roll

So I just tried out the Conair Classic Vintage Roll product and it's awesome! It's as easy as positioning it at the base of your head (there's an elastic band to hold it in place), tucking your hair around it, and bobby pinning it all in place! I did this really quick, so I'm sure you can make it even nicer, but I'd thought I'd share. It's so easy and you get a very nice result!

Stylin' Hair

My Granny's house is full of treasures. The other day her I just happened to be looking at the bookshelf when her cosmetology textbook caught my eye. She bought it back when she was going into hairdressing in 1949. It goes into all sorts of things like nails, massages, germs, muscles, pin-curls, finger waves, perms and a ton more. Here are a few images from the book. (Oh and I'm sorry for the terrible picture quality. I was forced to use my 1.3 megapixel phone, ew!)

Also, I was watching "The Company She Keeps" on TCM the other night and fell in love with Jane Greer's hairstyle. It was similar to the one she has in this picture. Oh and something funny Robert Osborne mentioned after the movie was that the infant from the train station scene was Jeff Bridges! I had to look it up to be sure; but for some reason it made me LOL! Anyway, Jeff Bridges aside, it was a cute movie! A good old fashioned classic.

Plaid Skirt & Pincurls

Here is an outfit that I would typically wear. I bought the skirt at a vintage store in Auburn, Alabama, and the rest was found at thrift stores (except the purse which I found yesterday and the headband which is from Forever21)

For my hair, I've been following the pin-curling technique from this video, just without the styling. It's much easier to do than I thought and the more I do it, the more I get the hang of it. The only downside is having to sleep on all those bobby pins!

Also, I'm really excited because I ordered a new pair of glasses, so not only will I soon be able to see again (!) but I think they compliment my face well and go up a bit on the edges, which gives them a vintage look. I can't wait!
