Connect the Dots

I just thought I'd share the dress I'm wearing to church today. I got it from Sydney's Vintage Clothing awhile back. Also, this is one of my favorite pair of shoes too. They go well with my wedding dress ;)

Fleas and Markets

So. Today my friend Annie and I ventured to a flea market called Swap-O-Rama in Alsip, IL. I feel dumb since I brought my camera and my cell phone and yet have pretty much nothing to show of the actual adventure. But we do plan on going to another Flea Market soon (one with more vintage pieces as well), and I will be sure to take some pictures then. This was actually my first time at a Flea Market, and I really enjoyed it. For the most part, this particular one had mostly items you could find at stores just at cheaper prices. There was one stand in particular though that caught my eye. It had some old trunks, vintage wall art, and radios. I couldn't help but purchase this amazing aqua and chrome radio (pictures below). There's also a few other things I purchased as well, including two beanie babies I had always wanted (they will be collectible again one day, when they're vintage! lol), and some religious wooden bracelets. Also, I included a picture of my outfit and this amazing travel bag that I found at a thrift store awhile back, which I brought in case I found anything worth buying—and I'm glad I did!

Wooden Spice Rack Upcycle

In case you don't remember, here is the spice rack I bought recently, and this is what it originally looked like:

These are the materials that I used: craft paint ('bright red', 'ocean breeze', and a white for the base coat), a paint brush, a brown fine tipped pen, and some stick-on labels from the wedding section of Michael's. I started by covering everything in white. Then I painted the outside red, and added blue to the inside of the drawers. I hand-drew the names on the labels, based on a font called Archer. I'm debating whether or not to paint the bottom of the shelves blue to tie it together, and I have yet to put on a sealer, to keep the paint from chipping (I'll probably go with Mod Podge—it's great to use as long as you don't mind brush strokes. Otherwise, use a spray on like Shellac.)

Thrift Store Finds

It was my day off, so naturally (lol) I decided to go thrift store shopping. My biggest / best purchase was an amazing teal armchair with wooden feet for only $30! There's one little corner of my room that needed something, and so I've been looking for a nice armchair, lamp, and bookcase so that I can turn it into a reading nook. Anyway, here it is as well as some other things I've found. I'm buying mostly accessories because I'm hoping soon to learn to sew some things of my own. I'll be visiting my Granny who is an expert in both sewing and vintage patterns ;) so I can't wait to see her and ask if she'll impart some of her wisdom to me!

Adding Some Flavor

I really haven't been able to post as much the past few days because I've been working a lot, so I thought I would share this really cute spice rack that I found at an estate sale not too long ago. I am excited about touching it up with a little paint and designing my own labels to go around the bottles (and when I finally do get around to it, I will definitely post!). I love the old bottles though; they're my favorite part. With a little elbow grease and graphic designing, I'm sure they will be beautiful again in no time! :)

Achromatic

Here is my outfit today. It makes me think a little of France, though I don't know enough about fashion to say exactly why except for the stripes. This is the pleated skirt that I bought the other day with shirt and shoes that have been thrifted, a sweater from Forever21, and hat from Cato.

I See

I finally have my new glasses! I'm so excited (1) because they're adorable and (2) I can see again! Can you believe I got these from Walmart?
