This post honestly has no rhyme or reason. Every once in awhile, I scroll through images on Google and pull a few that I really like the feel of, so here are three of my favorites from my recent search!

Mad Men Makeover Pt. 2

I redecorated my "Mad Men" inspired bedroom a little bit recently. The walls are still based on Joan's apartment, but I changed up the comforter and curtains, added a Philodendron (that we named Dapper Dan) and found this amazing accent pillow at Walmart that matched the wall color.

I really love our Broyhill Brasilia set. We have a night stand, bed frame and dresser. Recently, I saw a single night stand for sale at Brasilia Connection for about $600 😳 which is insane, but apparently they are very rare. I'm lucky to have the pieces I have!

Both the photos I pictured are of my mom's parents; one on their wedding day and one a couple decades later. They have always been one of my favorite couples!

I still have to figure out what I'm going to do for the other night stand and I hope Dapper Dan grows more so I can set him on the floor and not on a chair, but other than that I'm pretty happy with the way things are coming along! I think Joan would be proud 😉

Retro Bathroom Makeover

For the longest time, I've been trying to figure out what to do with our bathroom. The first thing that inspired me was a bathroom I saw on Madmen with gray walls and a black sink cabinet. (Ok yes, it was the Glen scene. But the bathroom was still pretty awesome.) Unfortunately the color was way too dark and didn't have the same class without the amazing wallpaper from the show. So after leaving our bathroom in limbo for several months, I finally went back to square one.

Here are some designs that really inspired me:









This is how our bathroom looked when we bought the house. It seemed like parts of it had been renovated pretty recently. The medicine cabinet, sink cabinet and light fixture are definitely not my style.



Soooo this is the plan! (Yay for Photoshop!) It's simple, but I think it's a lot more cohesive (and vintage) than what we had. The most expensive part is definitely going to be tiling the floor and tub area. But since the room is so small (and what I picked is so basic), it shouldn't be too bad. Home Depot has the square tiles for $0.85/sqft and the octagonal floor tiles are about $2.50/sqft. I'll be sure to post our forays into tiling when it comes to it. I can't wait to see all this come together!

"Mad Men" Inspired Bedroom

Okay, let's face it. 72.5% of the reason I watched Mad Men was for the style. From the interior designs to the costumes, there was such attention to detail! One of my absolute favorites though was Joan's apartment. That coral/aqua combo is just amazing.

So I painted the walls coral (Benjamin Moore 2169-40 "peach cobbler") and I bought some fabric from Hobby Lobby for the curtains (a white muslin and "spearmint" cotton). I love it with the Broyhill Brasilia bedroom set we have and it just makes the room feel so happy when the sun pours in through that south window.

Of course, the walls and one of the corners feel a little naked, and I'm still short one nightstand, so we're not done yet! But boy does that color make a world of a difference!

We Bought A House!

This announcement is a little late...but this past March we bought a house! It's a 1959 brick facade with a fully finished basement. It's really well built and I am having a lot of fun decorating. So far, we have the living room down but there are lots of exciting plans for the rest! More updates to come ;)

Movin' On Up

...Well technically I'm on the first floor. So when I say "movin' on up" I mean that I have bedrooms with doors, a peephole, dish washer, phone jack, central heating and A/C...and carpet! I really didn't mind all that much living without those things in my last place, but I do admit I am really enjoying having them now. :)

House-tile-ish

So I am moving into a new apartment soon, yay! I'm really excited because it's in a great area near a park with the cutest market right down the street — it feels like I've been warped in a time machine every time I go in there. I am going to have two small bedrooms (...with doors! An upgrade from my current abode, haha!), a tiny but cozy kitchen, tiled bathroom, central heat/AC, and tons of closet space. The complex was built in the 50's and each building has its own unique characteristics, style, and layout. Being as I will be moving soon, I've been looking at ideas on how to decorate my new space! And I thought I would share some of the cool inspirations I've found—here they are!
